It sucks, but it’s not the end of the world. It’s a matter of perspective. From mine, you’re one of the luckiest people I know. To be in the position where you can actually apply to Ivy League schools knowing that there is a possibility of your acceptance is something that I’m sure you are envied for by many, myself certainly included. Not getting into your number one school does not make everything you have done up to this point all for naught. You still sit in an incredibly privileged position.

I went to a brutally depressing public high school, took the hardest classes available and got the best grades that I could, graduated salutatorian, and if I had applied to Colombia, it would have been a joke. I didn’t have the absolute best grades or go to the most prestigious, or even a good high school. And yet, I’m still incredibly happy, and on a track that I know I will be successful in if I do my best.

My point is that you should not take what you have achieved thus far for granted. Pick yourself up, move on, and do something great with your life, because you’re good enough. Going to Colombia is not the key to success. You are. And you don’t need to go there to attain the life that you want.
